Fun with the 15 foot long Doctor Who scarf

Monday 28 November 2011

The other day me and Cody went over to Baaad Anna's yarn store to visit our friend Caitlin (who works there.) Cody decided it was cold enough a day for him to wear the freakishly large Doctor Who scarf that I had knitted him last winter and Caitlin made a lovely temporary Doctor Who dress out of it. I think it looks pretty darn good! The photo quality isn't great - I was using a borrowed point and shoot!

The pattern for the Doctor Who scarf can be found at ( http://www.doctorwhoscarf.com/ )
I used Cascade 220 wool for most of the scarf, although at one point I ran out of grey and managed to make Berroco's Ultra Alpaca work.

Knitters sure do love Doctor Who

Hey everyone! I'm going to be hosting a free youth knit 'n' bitch/knitting workshop this Friday at 6pm at the Purple Thistle Centre. Show up, bring your projects and lets knit together! I'll answer any questions to the best of my abilities, so feel free to bring knitting projects you're struggling with.
Hope to see you there!

Softsweater knits and fibre at the East Side Culture Crawl

Sunday 20 November 2011
This year I brought my yarns and knits to the East Side Culture Crawl. I was located in the Purple Thistle Centre, a youth collective run space for artists. It was fun! I gave out two hundred buisness cards in two days! Holy smokes people love knitting! I even sold some stuff (to my surprise) two shawls and a cowl, as well as two whole skeins of my handspun/handyed yarn. Lovely!

The lighting was crazy in all of these shots! Damn fluorescent lighting.

At the very last of my two hundred lovely moo cards.

Hand stamped and drawn labels with a moo card attached.

Out of Diamond's Baby Alpaca Sport!
At the very end of the crawl. My depleated pile of lovely.

Last year's Christmas project

Friday 18 November 2011
I had meant to get this finished for my Grandmother last year for Christmas. Obviously I'm still working on it - she'll get it for this Christmas though! I'm using Cascade Magnum (I think...) I spent quite a bit on this project! Knitting is worth it though.

Babe sniffs yarn, just like me!

X-Treme capilano tree top knitting

Thursday 10 November 2011
These are from quite a while ago (I have blonde hair now) I still haven't finished that lovely Girasole blanket though.

Fall is here! It isn't raining!

Cody is seen here in Stephen West's Clockwork shawl. Knit out of Mirasol Nuna.

Never say dye...

Friday 4 November 2011
I have to say, I am not very good at dyeing yarn. It was a disaster, dye everywhere, fibre everywhere, tears, purple and blue fingertips, boiling water. I was so frustrated that the colours weren't coming out as I wanted them to, but after several over-dyes I was happy with at least a couple of the rovings. Here are some photos!
The purple and blue are BFL and the brown/orange/purple ones are merino.

Kettle dyed purple.

First project knit out of my handspun!

Okay, it's been knit up for a quite a while actually, but I hadn't taken photos until now! The pattern is (once again) 198 yards of Heaven (found here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/198-yds-of-heaven ) but it's knit out of my Robin's Egg coloured handspun (roving by Pear Tree Yarns). I used two skeins, and again I ditched the lace bind-off for a picot bind-off.
